When my husband & I were first married, he warned me that he had lived in California for a few years…you know, earthquake country. He told me about a time he was staying with his grandfather. Grandfather shook him to wake him up, and my husband instinctively swung his arms over his head…effectively clocking his grandfather in the jaw! We’ve been married for 36 years and I’ve NEVER shaken him to wake him up!
Well, that there was about the best example of an intentional accident I have ever seen illustrated. He intentionally did what he did and accidentally did what he did for the same reason.
The only time I remember being touched to wake me up was when I was slow in coming out of anesthesia when I was a kid. When my wife doesn’t wake up from talking to her I push on the bed near her – works every time.
When I was still living at home, my brother- 1 1/2yr older than I- would come up behind me and poke me in the sides to tickle me. I developed the reaction of swinging around & hitting him, fairly hard. Until, one day, my dad came up behind me and tapped my arm….

Elly again with zero foresight. Put yourself in harm’s way and then be surprised when harm comes.

The best way to get rid of fly’s is to get a fly swatter. They’ll be gone with the wind…

In the Navy, I learned to wake the guy for the next watch from the feet end of the his rack. You poked him with the nightstick in his feet.
