After decades of “mistakes” I can vouch for the accuracy of that quote. Still learning too.

Lesson learned, but will it stick? That’s the real question.… I’ve always maintained that in order for kids to really learn anything, you have to give them the “gift of failure”.

We ALL learn from mistakes. Even the people in the US who think they’re perfect.

Okay, where are all the nay-sayers who constantly criticize John for being a bad father?

Michael has learned his lesson the hard way: One “aw sh*it” can ruin all your “atta boys”.

Not many parents are as forgiving and understanding as Jon is!

I will make the reference…to the Battle of McMinn County. In 1946, a community in Tennesee called Athens was run by a corrupt family. You could not get a school or police job their without the family’s approval. When elections came around, the corrupt family attempted for everyone to forget about them. A militia marched on the town, forcing the sheriff to bring out the ballot box and have elections. That is only time in American history a government was successfully overthrown by force.

Well done Lynn, a lesson here for many of the commenters as well as for Michael. Thankfully Michael will learn from the lesson, some of the others, well that’s a different matter.

Most protests are violent now and achieve nothing except destruction.

You always learn by the mistakes you make in life. I’m glad his dad was wise enough to know that and to comfort his son.

ON TOPIC: John truly is such a great dad. He really loves his kids! A few comics ago it looked like he wanted to THROTTLE Mike, but it passed quickly.

It is now understood that Wesley D. Bates and the media shat on Michael.

Michael has learned that there is nothing sesame about being out on the street.

Folks – Why are y’all bringing politics into this strip? I have read the “Comments Policy”, and I don’t think this is even allowed. People, it is only a comic strip about a family and their tribulations, good or bad. This one is a learning experience for all. So, lighten up. Put your politics on another platform.

John, if it was so good for Mike to learn this, WHY THE HELL DID YOU BURN RUBBER TO THE PROTEST AND DRAG HIM AWAY LIKE YOU WERE ARRESTING HIM!?

Besides, all you accomplished was to hammer Mike into thinking he was wrong when the buses still aren’t being fixed and they cost more to ride!

John says that he is glad that today happened because Michael learned from it. Of course the real reason is that Michael has admitted his dad was right about something, and that is what makes it worthwhile to John.

Nothing like someone spoiling a perfectly good read through the day’s comics by throwing their unsoliciated, abrasive and divisive partisan political “commentary” into the comments.

Michael should be glad he did not occupy Wall Street, or else he would be pooping in the streets.

Learning is insufficient if not acted on
