Was this based on the real life daughter? Admittedly, finding a boyfriend must have been hard. She needed to be on the lookout for hanger-ons and parasites who were feeding her ego while trying to get their hands in Lynn Johnston’s deep pockets.

I hear ya, girlfriend. After a particularly nasty breakup, I chucked all my romance novels and started reading mysteries and thrillers.

Indeed, that’s very purple prose.

I can remember reading that kind of magazine when I was Liz’s age. My favorite was “True Story” magazine. I believed every word, too.

Well that is a pretty yucky scenario all right.

She’s a smart girl with a bit of a grasp on reality. It’ll serve her well.
