If it was three wise women, they would have asked for directions, arrived in time to help with the birth, cleaned up, cooked a meal, and brought baby clothes & blankets instead of frankincense & myrrh.

Mary carried the baby for nine months, and gave birth. So it actually started with a woman doing all the work. Didn’t the men ride on camels?

Slight goof in this colorized version. In the first panel their car, which looks like the car parked on the right, is a complete gray color. Yet when they drive out on to the road the car magically turns into a blue color.

I found a really old Nativity Story show online and Raymond Burr plays Melchior. Blows me away, Perry Mason, a wise man indeed.

My Dad did the Christmas shopping for my sisters and I back when we were younger so I’m confused.

Tell that to the man who goes out into the woods, in the snow, to cut down the tree. Who struggles on the ladder to hang the lights in the house. Who works himself into an early grave so that the mom can spend the family into oblivion to buy everybody presents. Who carves the Christmas turkey or roast. Who maintains the home and yard and pays the heating bill. “Women do all the work” is (censored).

The Bible does not actually state how many wise men there were. It mentions, gold, frankensence, any myr (sic), and that there were wise men, but not how many. It is the published movies and books that say there were three, not the Bible.

I don’t know about you, but if my Mom didn’t do it, it wouldn’t get done. To this day, I appreciate the effort, but I’m not going to do it.

Sometimes it’s wise (for at least some men) to just stay out of the way.

In general reply to many of the other comments: Jesus is NOT a man. And no one had sex with Mary. The Trinity of God is Father, Spirit, Son. Father: The Image (Mind) of God, which is Truth; Spirit: The Likeness of God (His Desire, His Heart) which is Love; and Son: God’s Form (physical body), who is Jesus. Jesus is Truth and Love in flesh, the Messiah = Jesus the Christ. Remember, Christ is not a last name, it means Messiah, which in the Old Testament was to be God Himself in flesh. Jesus is not a man, nor is He the offspring of God; He is nothing created, He is the Creator. Father Truth filled with and displaying His Spirit which is Love, made visible in God’s One and Only Form, the Son, Jesus. Jesus is the immortal God taking off His immortality, clothing Himself with mortality, (being birthed through the virgin — yes, a woman who hadn’t had sex because He was not the product of sperm and egg), crucified, and risen immortal once again.

John 1:1: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made."

John 1:14: “The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.”

Actually, the Magi from the East didn’t arrive in Bethlehem until Jesus was around two years old. Mary and Joseph used the gifts to flee to Egypt, to fulfill the prophecy “out of Egypt have I called my Son”

My Grammy would buy herself a gift, wrap it, open it on Christmas morning and thank my grandfather for it. When they were alive I was too absorbed in my own new toys to notice. It wasn’t until a couple years ago that I first learned this, and it absolutely broke my heart.

Then again, if he had picked something out himself, it probably wouldn’t have been what she wanted anyway.

My pet peeve towards people who put their hands in the word of the Bible. When it speaks of Jesus as a babe, it always says Shepards. When it speaks of Jesus with the Wisemen, could have been two to Infinity, and three gifts,it always says a young child. The Wisemen did not meet Jesus until he was at least two years old.

There is no basis in the New Testament that there were three wise men. Could have been two; could have been 12. All we know is that they brought three gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
