This came up just last night with multiple generations of family. How every parent wastes time on trying to impress little kids with mega-spectacles when the child still thinks a whistle and banging two pots together are the Ultimate Experience.
Sounds just like my in laws making a big fuss over Christmas day for their 2 year old granddaughter. She is not going to remember it, even when she sees the video proof.
The phenomenon is called infantile amnesia and it happens to literally everyone.
“Infantile amnesia, the inability of adults to recollect early episodic memories, is associated with the rapid forgetting that occurs in childhood. It has been suggested that infantile amnesia is due to the underdevelopment of the infant brain, which would preclude memory consolidation, or to deficits in memory retrieval. "
My first memories are from when I was four years old. They include the Tea Cup ride, the Jungle Cruise, and the castle at Disneyland; and Mammoth Caves.

No kid would ever forget going to Disneyland. And that it was on their third birthday.

The first birthday I remember was my 5th. Most people are going to be about the same.
