Paige: The thing I don't like about using the internet is there's not enough privacy. Andy: I keep hearing people talking about that. I'm no computer whiz, but aren't there things you can do like setting the browser to reject cookies and never giving out personal information? Paige: Actually, all I really need is a good dead bolt lock. Andy: Huh? Paige: I'm talking about privacy on this end, Mother. Jason: Peter, move your head. I can't see what your E-mail says.
Bill was pretty up-there in tech terms. Cookies were first introduced in browser releases in 1995, but weren’t really public knowledge until 1996. Their developers were granted a patent on them in 1998, the year of this strip.
