Andy (mother): Why so glum? Jason (youngest son): I spent an entire month trying to kill this one video game foe, and it turns out all I had to do was walk past him! Who knew you weren't supposed to club him or kick him or lob fireballs at his head, just because he's huge and fierce and can squash you at will! Andy (mother): You've heard the saying, "Discretion is the better part of valor"? Think of this as a valuable life lesson. Jason (youngest son): A "life lesson"? Who the heck wants life lessons in their video games, Mother! Sheesh. Next thing you know, they'll try sticking them in the funnies. Andy (mother): Oh, shoot--I left the raw chicken out all night. Well, I'm sure it's fine...
I know of a popular game with life lessons about not fighting (hint: it has a sadistic talking flower) ;)
