Peter: I'm thinking we should compost our leaves this year. Andy: Hey, I'm all for that. Peter: That way they'll naturally degrade and we can recycle the biomatter for gardening. Andy: Sounds like a plan. So where will this compost pile be? Peter: I was thinking the whole front and back lawn. Andy: Will you just rake the yard like I asked?!
Actually, composting releases C02 and occasionally methane, the environmentally friendly thing to do would be to seal the leaves in a hermetically sealed metal container and after a few weeks, heating the container to 800F or higher to release the remainder of stored water and release all of the flammable gasses to produce a (cleaner) biofuel.
