Jason: Ooo- an optical mouse! Roger: Jason, what are you doing?! Jason: Opening my presents. Roger: Christmas isn't until tomorrow! Jason: Yes, but it's already tomorrow in Afghanistan, and with so many U.S. and allied troops deployed there, I feel it's my patriotic duty to celebrate the holiday right along with them. No, no- I meant with them in spirit! Roger: Hello, I'd like to ship my son to Asia...

When my dad was growing up, they’d open gifts on Xmas Eve.

In my family, we opened one gift on Christmas Eve. The rest had to wait until Christmas Day — and EVERYONE had to be up before any presents got opened. If my mother caught us trying to sneak a peek too early — back to bed we went!

We always opened presents on Christmas Eve. We would go next door to my grandparents’ house and wait for Santa. My husband says we were the most gullible children in the world, but it worked for us. We still have our big family gathering Christmas Eve.

My dad always woke us kids up, never the other way around. Truthfully my dad’s ideal Xmas would be for us girls all to spend the night so he could wake us all up like he use too.

3 am one x-mas morning when I was about Jasons age I snuck downstairs to look at the presents, completely forgeting that my parents had set mouse traps on the sofas to keep our Labradors off them. Well sure enough SNAP thankfully I avoided crying out and getting scolded, extracted my finger and snuck back upstairs quickly.

In my best friend’s family, the moment they get a package, they open it up. It doesn’t matter if it’s for Christmas, birthday, or anything for a specific time, they open it up as soon as they get it. And that just makes me sad that they can’t wait for a few days.

Patriotic duty, my foot. That’s just one of the boy’s fancy-schmancy excuses to open his presents a day early.

For my family when my children were small we say lets wait until afternoon to open gifts. Hard on them and they did. For onee the gifts are open Christmas Day is over with. Now they are adults we joined my mom(my dad is gone) with sister/husband, we draw names and see which house we go to. We wait until everyone eats then open gifts. on CHRISTmas Day.

Our family always get together to have a big supper and open presents on Christmas Eve night, and on Christmas we would all just enjoy each others’ company and eat leftovers! I hope for everyone to have many good memories with loved ones this year, and a Merry and Peaceful Christmas to all!
