Boss: Fox, you look awful! Roger: Here's the Glyn proposal, sir. Boss: Don't tell me you were here all night preparing this just for me! Poor guy! Go home! Take a shower! See your wife and kids! Heck, take the day off! Fox, you're dreaming again. And did I mention you look awful? Roger: Sorry, sir.
Welcome to the world of contract engineering. “We have nine weeks of work to do, but the purchase order was delayed for six weeks because the VP who approves them was out of town, but we can’t move back the completion date because we have other projects that are dependent on your project, so if you don’t mind working sixteen hour days for three weeks that would be great. And don’t even think about billing us for more than three weeks of 8-hour days, because we have a couple of foreign engineers we can call who will work 20 hour days for less.”
