All of her relatives and close friends knew NOT to call my Grandma between noon and four pm: she would watch the local news and then HER soaps. This was in the 60s-70s – rotary dial phones, party lines, and no such thing as an answering machine. If it WAS an actual emergency, you called, let it ring, hung up, and repeated twice more. That was the ONLY way to get here away from “The Doctors”, “General Hospital”, “As the World Turns”,“The Guiding Light”, et al. Anyone who did not know the code was just trying to sell her something. After 4pm, she reverted to human form. Oh, and do not call on Saturdays between 7 and 8 pm, lest you incur the wrath of Gra’MOM for interrupting “The Lawrence Welk Show”.
