I wonder what the evolutionary purpose of pre-teen boys’ aversion to girls is? I can’t think of one. I always found girls to be the best playmates. There wasn’t the chronic need for competitiveness, pecking order and roughhousing, and girls were more amenable to creative and cooperative games.
As it was the late 1940s-early ’50s, I was duly shunned by the boys. I think I got the best of the deal given my later life experiences.
