Ms. O’Dell is absolutely right. The way to deal with a young child who occasionally repeats unacceptable language is not to overreact. Just make it known that the language is unacceptable and move on. The child will catch on soon enough.
I mean, you could’ve probably avoided the issue by just saying you were watching a movie that was otherwise generally appropriate and something slipped through the censors. Say you were watching Law and Order or The Simpsons or something.
Yeah it’s a fib but it’s probably gonna let you keep your job if you at least learn a lesson from it.
We caught our babysitter watching TV while our son was playing alone on the floor. We paid her but never had her come back. She wasn’t watching Jerry Springer but it wasn’t Sesame Street either. Of course, in today’s world, the TV is not supposed to be on at all when the children are around.
Man, back in the day when I babysat we made 25 cents an hour to watch people’s precious creations (and some Brady Bunch kid made 50 cents, but that was Minnesota money versus California money)!!! Seriously, for 25 cents an hour if there was an emergency (like a fire) this 12-year-old would be the first one out the door. You get what you pay for…

Could someone explain the “Want a penny” thing?

Why is it when people say “a penny for your thoughts,” they get the other person’s “two cents worth?”

It is either a penny for thoughts, or two cents worth kind of joke.

Well, she shouldn’t have been watching the Jerry Cocker Springer Spaniel show in the first place.
