Loved the folk in costume while waiting for The Phantom Menace to start. We waited in line for 7 hours for tickets to Return of the Jedi back in 1983, there was no advance ticket sales or buying them on an Internet back then. When coming out of the theater after the show, those waiting in line were staring at those leaving as if we were returning from an audience with God.
I understand that “they” made a few more after the prequels, but the prequels sort of let all the air out of the series for me. I do have a DVD for one of those later movies. I’ve had it for a couple of years. It is still in its wrapping. I’ll have to wait for a rainy weekend when I can’t leave the house – oh wait a minute!
That bit with the straws reminds of something I did at work a very long time ago. The “mucky-mucks” were having some sort of promotion and they were giving out special pencils with some sort of doo-dad on the top connected with a bit of string. I took two of these things, removed the doo-dads, and tied the strings together to give me… ta-daa, Nunchucks! The mucky-mucks were not amused… ☺

If only I had seen any Star Wars episode I might understand this.

“Reveal ourselves to the restroom” sounds creepy, but I guess it’s supposed to be.

Since Peter’s brother is one of ‘those people’, I am not surprised he knows how to play along.
Also, ewwww for picking up a dropped straw.

Not sure whether or not I miss seeing people dress up for big movie openings.

But those guys who paint their bodies in team colors to stand around screaming while half naked in snow-covered football stadiums are completely sane.

Notice how this guy has clearly watched the movie already and is coming back for more.

He didn’t have a straw in the first three panels… And only three or four fingers too.

Sounds like Otaku. How many cinemas would GLADLY welcome these insane fans these days?
