I subscribe to Francis and enjoy it very much.I am confused by the size of Brother Leo—is he a midget, an adolescent, why is he so much smaller than the other characters? His size makes him look odd.

Because Leo is symbolically a background character – even when foreground graphically.

Leo is Francis’ sidekick, and they’re traditionally diminutive. Sidekicks are intended to be the student for the main character to explain things to for exposition, as a proxy for the reader.

As the aphorism states: “What is popular is not always right and what is right is not always popular.”

Reynard61I wish I could agree, but in my 82 year lifetime, I have only seen two who qualified: John XXIII and Francis. The rest have supported tyranny and monetary power over the people, same as most earthly rulers.

What gender would you assign to a Spirit?

God being male or female would imply sex organs. Why would God have sex organs before creating men or women? Or after? Did God create people to be sex toys? OMG!

You might have a point; the Shechina is generally considered to be female. Still, calling it a “spirit” sounds genderless to me.

Even sum of the 70 million Elvis fans understand that women should be allowed to be priests.
