It is difficult to remember that Donald Trump was also created by God in His image and likeness. I’m not quite sure which part of God, but like the rest of us, Donnie is a child of God.
I do struggle to keep from hating both him and his followers. I manage to redirect the hate into pity.
Trump probably lives the most miserable existence possible. His entire universe goes no farther than his own skin. It must be very lonely in there. He does not know how to love and is incapable of receiving love and, in spite of all his “adoring crowds,” it is never enough. He lives in perpetual emotional hunger.
As for his followers, not all of them are true believers, but they are united by a common emotion: fear. Instead of seeing Christ (or some other figure) as their savior, they see Trump as their savior. They wall themselves up and live as if they are under siege. They cannot enjoy the life that God has given them.
