Our church encourages the practice of “contemplative prayer” where you turn off the rest of the world so you can listen to God speaking to you.
It requires relaxation of the body and becoming aware of the body. Yoga is often suggested.
It doesn’t work for me. I get there by other means. Instead of activating the body I engage it. It’s my 5 AM walk that sets my mind free and open to new thought – sometimes, maybe even, divine thought.
Somehow I have figured out how to live in two worlds at once.
