I never did fall for that starve a cold thing. The last time I got so sick I didn’t want to eat was about 15 years ago. I have had colds since then, nothing bad enough to make me not want to eat.
The thing people miss about this phrase is that it’s not “feed a cold AND starve a fever”, it’s “if you feed a cold (ie take good care of yourself when you’re a little sick), you’ll starve the fever (not get more sick).” It’s similar to the saying ‘A stitch in time saves nine’, if you take care of little problems you’ll avoid big ones.

The phrase is, “Feed a cold, starve a fever.” You need energy to fight a virus.

It’s “starve a cold, feed a doctor”, isn’t it?

Whichever it is, you are miserable and nothing tastes right
