Frazz says, "So how's the microeconomic picture?" Caulfield says, "My folks doubled my allowance provided I put the raise into savings." Frazz says, "Very smart and generous of them." Caulfield says, "I think they're afraid I'll grow up and put them in a nursing home." Frazz says, "The way things are going, they may be afraid you won't."
I once saw an interesting way to do an allowance. One third was put in savings, one third went to their church, and the remaining third could be saved or spent. The kids learned about saving up for particular treats. (Or going without them, if they spent as fast as they got it.)
