Frazz by Jef Mallett for October 15, 2011
Transcript:
Boy: It starts at noon. Frazz: And it's a pretty big game? Boy: State vs. The U? I'd say so. Frazz: Televised? Boy: Duh. Frazz: WooHoo! I'd better get going, then. Boy: You don't want to go into the stadium dressed like that. Frazz: Stadium? I've got a good four hours to ride on empty roads.

Interesting that almost all bicycle racing fans actually ride bicycles while very few fans of the mainstream sports actually participate in those sports. Stay glued to your sets folks, we’re going out for a ride on our bicycle (in our case that would be a tandem).

I’m with Frazz on this one. !! Yea, no crowded streets, restaurants, bars, etc for 4+ hours.

The game is in East. Lansing, but even here in Ann Arbor, the streets will be clear for cycling.
I sent out a survey to my students & parents – What’s most important to you:A) The Wolverines (or Spartans) winning the football game B) The Tigers making it to the World SeriesC) Having a real life.

Jeff, you forgot D. The Lions going 6-0.
First time since 1978 that a state had an unbeaten Pro football team, a baseball team in the playoffs and two ranking football teams playing each other.

Stan, I was 6 years old the last time the Lions won the Championship. I’ll believe it when I see it. :) As a native Detroiter my heart’s all for it, but my brain … well…

Yes, I have always loved Super Bowl Sunday for the empty roads and hiking trails…

Washtenaw Avenue will be empty while the games on. Good time to head to Barnes and Noble!

And for those who do not want empty streets, there is the Detroit/Windsor Marathon on Sunday. Over the bridge and through the tunnel we go.

Boy, if anyone ever got a Saturday right for me, this is it. By the way, has anyone else ever come to the conclusion that Frazz is actually Calvin (Calvin and Hobbs) grown up?

skyerocker.. You’re right.. I loved Calvin & Hobbs.. Frazz is just Calvin as an “adult”.. Which just proves that it can happen to us all…..

Er, Calvin and Hobbes was done by a different cartoonist…

Calvin and Hobbes was done by a different artist, true, but every now and then Mallett pays a loving homage to Watterson.
