Step up.
Take your marks.
False start. Stand up.
Caulfield: It's summer vacation, not a swim meet!
Mrs. Olsen: I'm not dismissing anyone until everyone is sitting still.
Let’s see. . .Last school bell has rung. . . yesIt is time to leave. . . .yesTeacher being an stupid. . . .yesI would get up and walk out and ignore her, there is nothing she can do.
@comicsssfan & @nighthawks: There are bad apples in any group, and that includes schools and teachers. Just as many bad ones in the lay teacher population as there were in the parochial school teacher population. I was in a catholic school for grades 1-7, and did not have a bad teacher any year. Did learn some discipline (I think) and did get a good education. When I went to public school starting in grade 8, was ahead of the curve in most subjects and absolutely hated public school. Grades went from As & Bs to Cs.
I never went to private school, but I did move a lot and swich schools a good deal. My best teacher was one who was very strict, but she used her brain to actully evaluate the situation before handing out punishments. Novel concept that. But it was also a realativly small class (about a dozen kids), I’m sure that helpped.
Same experience. In public school I had a very mean teacher who had no qualms with abusiveness (mentally and somewhat physically as well…eventually lost her job when she got caught literally hitting a kindergartner). In a private Christian school, the Principal was nuts but I could not have had a better group of teachers (for the most part) that I think fondly of to this day. As you say there are always going to have good and bad in all aspects of anything, it is just sad that some go into teaching that have no business doing it. Same with working in the medical field. There are doctors and staff that I think are just awesome and some that I firmly believe need to step away from patient care and go work in research somewhere.
I went to a Catholic school, taught by nuns in the early fifties…..I think I know where the Nazis that scampered out of Germany in those years were hiding out….St. Helen School……

I had the same teacher. Sister Mary Roland. Loved to grab kids by the hair! She’s gone on to her eternal reward. I hope it’s appropriate.

Technically, the starter command is “Stand Please” and it is used to PREVENT false starts. I am surprised that Jeff doesn’t know this….
