The worst trend in “studies” is the increasing inability to understand correlation vs. causation. I read one recently that concluded that shopping makes one happy, because a correlation was found between the amount of money someone spent shopping and how happy that person said he was. It never occurred to the genius sociologists that having more money, which makes more shopping possible, makes people happy to begin with….
