When I worked for American Excess, I got double-time and a half if my scheduled work day fell on a holiday.

Seems like I always had jobs that kept me busiest on days that most others had off. Like cab driving, for example.

I think it is criminal to have these Paramedics attend idiots who play with fireworks at the expense of a life or death call to someone who, through no fault of their own, really need medical attention. My praise goes to these Paramedics.

God bless the paramedics, police, fire fighters, emergency room personnel, and all those who help keep us safe in spite of our own bad luck or sheer stupidity. Also those who work on holidays to feed us and entertain us.

In our neck of the woods, it’s been firefighters. (Literally)

Then there are the blood bankers (like me… …) that have to work today to keep the blood supply safe for those that are idiots on 4th of July..

The most dangerous words in the English language:“Hey y’all, watch this!”

I’m a paramedic. It’s a lot more fun than people think it would be.

Thank you to all fellow vets, emergency personnel, law enforcement, and medical people that work on this day.

He could be a teacher. Then he would have summers off. Except he has kids, so maybe not.

My sister-in-law did her residency as head trauma doctor (head doctor for traumatic injuries, not doctor for head traumas) in a large ER; she said that street crime could be reduced drastically with the arrest of two people: “SomeDude” and “TheseTwoDudes” since the description of how the great majority of stabbings, shootings, and assaults occurred ran on the lines of "I was standing on the corner, minding my own business, when SomeDude (or “TheseTwoDudes” came up and…" (Containing a measure of truth; many of the complainants were indeed "minding their own ‘business’ " when competitors launched a hostile takeover.)

The name of that tent sound like Pearls Before Swine :)
