I’ve been following this strip on our local paper for a while and had to move it over here so I could say how MUCH I reallyreally like this strip. Frazz is just a great character!
A while ago, I found myself the lone cartoonist in a group of recent engineering graduates. I was a little scared I was going to have to fake knowing something useful, but the conversation took a turn much more to my liking, as they reminisced about college shenanigans. They were a lot more creative than I was mathematical.
One of the stories that stuck with me was the one about shooting bottle rockets down the dorm toilet. Which eventually destroyed the throne, of course. But these were engineering students, and after a trip to a salvage yard and a hardware store and a minimal outlay of cash, the dorm had a better toilet than it started with.
But the point is, there are even better things than oranges for destructive fun if you know what you’re doing.
A friend of the family who was a schoolboy in WW2 told of a classmate who flushed a hand grenade down the school toilet with a length of string tied to the firing pin. When he pulled the string it had a profound effect on other boys sitting downstream! (He said no boys were harmed in the incident — the pipes on the other hand…)

Not what you do but the way that you do it that makes a difference. He did not tell her not to flush oranges but how to do it more efficiently.

The alligators in the sewers are from Florida, so they would like oranges.

Shame, Frazz, shame! No one should be flushing food down the toilet. You should be telling her to dispose of uneaten food properly, by composting it.
