Frazz gave her good advice. For me, writing down some things I would like to do on a day makes me want to work the list. Get more things done that way because I hate to see me letting things slide. On the other hand, compiling memoirs wouldn’t work especially well for me as, like Mrs. Olsen, I spent 25 years as a teacher. Except for some very exceptional and very rare days, the mosaic of memories is generally pastel and two-dimensional.
Another way to enhance memory is from photos. I have never been without a camera of some sort since the early 1950’s. My memories are compiled in albums and on disks, and those are good enough for me. I guess I could try writing stories around those photo moments, but I wonder that wouldn’t make them less interesting instead of more.

Often it’s the writing down and drawing that fixes it in memory.

Journals are sometimes like foodie pictures. Why would you want to go back and look at them?

#Bilan: Why would you take foodie pictures in the first place? Enjoy the food while it’s there, and loose the camera (ie. The phone)

She’s a teacher. It’s not like she watches soaps all day.

Basically, Frazz is right. It’s whatever works.

Memories light the corners of my mind
Misty water-colored memories of the way we were
Scattered pictures of the smiles we left behind
Smiles we gave to one another for the way we were
Can it be that it was all so simple then
Or has time rewritten every line
If we had the chance to do it all again
Tell me, would we? Could we?
Memories may be beautiful and yet
What’s too painful to remember
We simply choose to forget
So it’s the laughter we will remember
Whenever we remember
The way we were

I like looking over my old work — from adulthood. Most of my childhood work just embarrasses me now, even when my mom likes it.

Pretty damn ironic for a guy who makes his money off royalties for a song he wrote years ago.
