That’s actually good therapy… with a recent paper supporting it.

Walking can help prevent a stroke. I know.

I have a feeling this is going to be one of the things where she starts off hating it but then starts to love it and won’t admit it.

Contrary to much marketing, you don’t need special clothes to do it. A stroll in the park. Sometimes literally.

I was recently told by one doctor to walk less, and that was the day after another doctor told me to keep up my walking schedule. (Second doctor did surgery on my leg, so she can be forgiven.)

Depending on purpose, gonna take a lot of walking. First there will be signals from feet, knees, and back. If she gets through that, then first gains will be stamina and improved breathing, appreciation for surroundings. Next will be chance to stop and chat with neighbors, and maybe win a walking partner. All good. Looking forward to future arcs on this topic.

Exercise gives you energy, but you need energy to exercise….

I perversely look forward to this strip 20 years from now, when the story lines will all be about fallen arches, lumbar pain, and knee replacements.

Fairly boring? Treadmills are terminally boring!

But despite our society’s best efforts to prevent and discourage walking, it isn’t difficult to work a little walking into one’s life.   To begin, park as far as possible from the door when visiting a public space.   In addition to the exercise, you aren’t likely to find other cars parked tightly around you when you want to leave, and you may be able to pull into the space from the back, so that you don’t have to back out.

No matter where I picked it up, I always return my cart to the store:   two extra trips.

If your house has more than one floor, you can stay in really-great shape by putting the kitchen and the food on different floors.

She has a dog. It should be part of her daily routine. Or it isn’t and the doctor is the vet asking in the interest of her Boston Terrier.

Those are small and compact, but still need their exercise.
