Yes, at this point, he does seem to be a nice, quiet one. Why don’t you stop and introduce yourself? Chat a bit and get to know him. That way, you’ll know if that sign needs to stay up or go.
When I was in 5th grade there was a dog I would pet on the way home. His doghouse sign said “Dodo” so I called him that. He was a very friendly dog and I enjoyed petting him. One day the doghouse was gone and so was Dodo. In his place was this very beautiful dog. I was sad that Dodo was gone but thought I’d befriend this new very pretty dog. But when I tried he showed me his teeth and they were very huge. I never was able to befriend this dog.
I don’t know Fred. The new dog looks like it could be a Chihuahua, Min-Pin, or some kind of Rat Terrier, none of which would be considered particularly sociable.

Careful Fred, as Marlin Perkins used to say, “Watch those teeth, they’re razor sharp!”

The smaller they are, the fiercer they seem to be.

Careful Fred, he could be one of those ankle-biter chihuahuas.

If it’s a chihuahua, it might be nastier than the wolfhound.
