Love much how Mrs. Dear is drawn in this strip. Getting from being not much interested to annoyed and extremely bored in the last panel. I certainly know her feelings from when colleagues bragged. ;-D
Read the book, by Rick Reilly, “Commander In Cheat”, about how the fat traitor who wants to become dictator of the US cheats at golf, every time he plays!
Reminds me of my uncle. He died at the age of 89 in his home that was built near a golf course in southern Florida. I used to visit him every year and go out on the course with him. He couldn’t play worth a darn. But he’d been playing golf for 65 years and was out there on that course three or four times a week. He loved it…I never got it.

But isn’t that par for golfers to fudge the details?

Fred, golf is a game where the balls lie poorly and the golfers lie well!

To use a phrase which became popular in 1980s Britain, “Economical with the truth”.

She doesn’t look at all interested.

I’m pretty sure that when she walks away like that, it’s a sign that she’s not interested in the story, not a sign to follow her and keep telling it.

Don’t exaggerate too much, Mr. Dear.

Mrs. Dear shows as much interest in Mr. Dear’s narrative as he would show in her relating of a ‘Ladies Aid’ meeting at the church ! ! !
