At our former church yelling “Hey, Jerry!” was like walking into a Scottish pub and yelling “Hey, Mac!” (Then there was my Scout troop, of which about half was named Mike. I can well believe the World Almanac when it lists Michael as the most common boys’ name in 1960.)
