So, here’s the deal: There are 8 States (Alaska, California, Colorado, Oregon, Massachusetts, Maine, Nevada, Washington State, and Washington DC which has no Senators BTW) with some kind of legalization, plus all the States with medical use of pot, so we add 51 States held by Republicans, plus 8 States who get a lot of $ from pot taxes, plus States with medical pot legalization and we have enough votes in the Senate to agree to trade removal of pot from schedule 1 status within the the US (with Feds keeping Schedule 1 status for anything coming in from outside US) and make a deal for them to join in a bipartisan agreement to the appointment of the Republican SCOTUS nominee, all other Republican appointees, the new health law and tax cuts that need the Senate’s advice and consent for approval of their appointment or approval in exchange for, in essence Federal legalization of pot and returning control back to the individual States. Voila, big tax bucks and lots of jobs for States with State legalization without Federal legalization of pot (which trumps the States legalization). An offer they can’t refuse else the complete shut down of all pot sales in USA. Win-win provided enough Republicans get on board. End of crisis, everyone “highly” happy with outcome and fewer worries about NRA member’s intervention to force the issue.
