Beautiful coins. My favorites from the USA are the Augustus St. Gaudens double eagle, the walking liberty quarter, the $4.00 “Stella” and the silver 3-cent piece.

Action scene: I’m so glad I have never seen the whole movie; I’ve irretrievably lost only 9 and a half minutes of my life… Cool hair dye job, though.

MzD-B hope your getting a little cut from all the junk the go-comic overlords are putting in your comments section… (correction) I had to restart the confuser and was signed out of go-comic-land, when I signed in, to make my pithy comment, all the “stuff” went away….

Regarding animals named after celebrities, my ex has a uromastyx that we named after nubile and talented Arban Ornelas, who is now married to Steve Severin of Siouxsie & the Banshees fame:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arban_Severin

No, she doesn’t have an entire species named after her, but she should.

Regarding her blood donating habits, there is something very, very wrong with Teresa if she’s not interested in free Nutter Butters. I’d pretty much let you drain all my blood in exchange for Nutter Butters and a glass of milk.

Regarding the “Japs Keep Moving” sign, it reminds me of an early Looney Tunes cartoon. It’s one of the greatest animated cartoons of all time, from a technical, parody and musical standpoint. It’s also one of the most racist, which is why almost no one has seen it. Coal Black and De Sebben Dwarves:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXFSsKFrCgY

There’s a gag in there about “Japs” – you’ll know it when you see it. Of course, the cartoon was not long after Pearl Harbor, when the country wasn’t feeling too charitable toward the Japanese.

The funny part about all the racism was that the creator went out of his way to use black singers and black voice actors, at a time when it wasn’t common to use black people. By all accounts, black people of the era thought the cartoon was hilarious, but of course to modern eyes, it is wall-to-wall stereotypes.

It’s still pretty funny, though, if you can get past the racism. :)

    Re “Hate” in the Blog:

Yes, a lot of that back during the 40s, I know. My parents bought their first house (in California) in 1945. Years later, my dad showed me the old legal deed, long since paid off. In black and white, it stated quite boldly he was not allowed to sell the house to “anyone of oriental persuasion” - nothing regarding blacks, hispanics, or any other ethnic group, however. Still covered a lot of different peoples, didn’t it?

Imagine seeing something like THAT nowadays?
