Double Crossies

Within time, each square may be appropriately filled from a considerable amount of rainfall..

Water crystals are hexagonal.

Salt crystals are cubic.

Rain water comes from salt water, whence it returns.

When it returns more quickly than it falls, the world begins to dry out, except the deep pockets.
