The Spice Islands https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maluku_Islands are now called the Maluku Islands. Somehow, the Maluku Islands doesn’t have the same ring to it.
“He took a voyage to the Maluku Islands in the middle of every staff meeting and didn’t return until the meeting was over.”
And so Mas Y Minos show up at the Titan Tower to be mentored by Robin, and introduce Cyborg and the others to tamales when they want to order a pizza. Cyborg’s reaction is, “I don’t know. This is slightly different from what I’m used to.”
It has occurred to me lately that I keep coming back to Frog Applause because it usually sounds just like the 10 voices in my head. It feels like a kindred spirit.
It’s hard to believe a person who’d use a name here that’s a play on Chickenman’s alter ego would have so little sense of, well, anything. I just hope he wasn’t everywhere, he wasn’t everywhere. (you have to be familiar with Chickenman for that last bit)
Interesting that the word tragic comes from the Greek word for goat (tragos), and comic from the Greek, revel, (merry making) and also from Old French, reveler, also rebeller (be disorderly, make merry; rebel, be riotous.) Paraphrasing some old dude….. the measure of a first rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposing ideas in mind at once and not go crazy. Frog Applause is like that for me ( very loose analogy ), comedy and tragedy all rolled into one chocolate & tripe pie, deftly applied to the face. The ever changing hybrid chimera that is Frog Applause may one day be the dolphoat (dolphin/ goat) and the next day the fishunny (fishnet stocking bunny.) Thank you and carry on you rebel fool!
Unexpected? —From time to time, perhaps. But, more generally, FA is AF. Which is to say, Frog Applause is AbFab: absolutely fabulous. Which is to say, FA is full of fables, some comic or funny, some tragic or monitory. The Brothers Grimm were like that. Not that Teresa is so terribly grim. More in the vein of Aesop. Right down to the bunnies. (Does Teresa were bunny-slippers around the house? Something to ponder.)
I fear that some short-fused passing readers have rather rigid minds. Believe me, supple is the way to go!

I still “happily” (yes, happily) read The Frog, always hopeful for a visit from Grace The Face, always thinking, “maybe tomorrow my Grace will come…”.
In the interests of full disclosure, I should mention I continue to curse the loss of the blog. Sorry, but can’t help it.

This old Frog Applause is a hemorrhoid outside of the body.
The new FA is a hemorrhoid inside the anus of GoComics.
