I wonder if Shawm is like my sister’s dog. He hates being bathed and only she and I can wash him. When we tried to take him to a professional, he barked in terror as if he was being tortured. We had to leave.

I like having a beagle. No maintenance other than nail clipping on occasion. Long walks on concrete streets keep them filed down pretty well. If not allowed to roll in anything, beagles don’t need a bath very often. They don’t get stinky or the wet dog smell after a nice rain walk. I always get comments about how soft she is. This morning in my news feed I saw a video of a beagle being abused by scientists giving the dog oxy. I will spare details, but I turned it off as soon as I could. The poor dog was tolerating everything done to it – beagles are very loving and will tolerate a lot – it made me sick. I am all for science, but there has to be a better way than abusing beagles and then killing them for their contribution to science. All they want is to love and be loved. That’s why they use beagles. Thousands of them. What kind of person will breed beagles for a life of torture?
