Garfield by Jim Davis for January 11, 1981
Transcript:
Jon: What happened to my favorite record?! Garfield: I scratched it. Jon: What happened to the lasagna I fixed for dinner?! Garfield: I ate it. Jon: Garfield, why is it you scratch, eat and destroy everything in sight?! Garfield: I can't help it! I'm a slave to my passions! Jon: CATS! Garfield: HUMANS! Jon: I'm sorry, Garfield. If you didn't do those things you wouldn't be a cat. I love you for what you are. Garfield: That's okay. Jon: What happened to my fern? Garfield: Don't ask.
Why hasn’t Oldie wised up yet to being kicked off the table? Why hasn’t Jon found a clever way to put Garfield on a diet by now? Why don’t Garfield, Jon, and Oldie ever age? Do cats really watch television in real life? Do cats actually prefer lasagna?
And most importantly, do comics like these ever display anything that is remotely of complete realism, or anything remotely of any true continuity?
