Jon: No mall for us this year, Garfield...we're Christmas shopping online!
Garfield: Sounds good. Have fun. I'll be in the food court.
Jon: Get out of the refrigerator!
The ‘fridge is Garfield’s mall. The mall….. put on noise cancelling headphones, get from A to B as quick as you can, hold your breath, get what you need and get out.
We used to have some nice malls with fountains and rest areas and decent, reasnably priced stores. But rents got so high, only the high – end expensive stores are there – places I would never shop. My favorite stores are long gone. It’s just specialty shops. And the fountains and rest areas are gone so they can have kiosks with workers trying to grab your attention to sell you body lotion or whatever kind ofcrap they’re selling. I don’t shop in the malls at all and haven’t shopped in them for many years. I do go to the food court once a month with friends. They started making the food court unpleasanttoo, with loud, blaring “music” (horrible stuff!), but they finally wised up and don’t play that loud junk anymore. But even the food court is losing businesses a lot. they have a few empty spots there now and not a great selection of places to eat. I stop at Arby’s on my way to the food court and pick up asandwich there (ham and cheese).

I bet online shopping is more bearable than real life shopping. Not having to deal with rude people who push in front of you in queues.
Bliss.

I haven’t been to the local mall since the last day I worked there in 1990. Apparently I haven’t missed a thing.
