You gotta respect “Garage Mahal”!

OK, I know it’s just a comic strip, but …. you historians out there: Is Gasoline Alley the main street of an old downtown? Would people be walking by a shop like this, or would they drive to it as a destination? If this were a slice-of-life (as advertised), would any sane person open up a joint like this thinking that guys waiting for their brakes to be adjusted would kill time in?

At least no one is being hip-mo-tized in this story.

I like the “Garage Mahal” name too! For MJ Emigh… regardless of the “way back origins” of the shop… I am thinking the location is a relatively small town, and that Slim’s station is on the main road.

I wonder if our English readers had trouble with “Garage Mahal” since they pronounce the first word “garidge.”
