I don’t know if the belief that deceased humans can “earn their wings” and become angels originated with It’s A Wonderful Life. But, that movie, along with the TV series Highway To Heaven helped make that error widely known. On the other hand, the TV Series Touched By An Angel was more in line with what religions that believe in angels actually teach.
