That was just one branch of a huge oak. Betcha now, the arc will segue into one depicting the dumb rubes lame efforts to haul it away!

Before we fall into the hand wringing about the potential outcomes, let’s take a moment to marvel at the artistry in today’s strip. It’s certainly far removed from the style we’ve seen lately.

The shading, the detail and what, just as importantly, is not detailed is masterful.

Jim’s hand is all over this one!

The generator under it is small.

Oh goody, something else for Joel and Rufus to mess up. Would you trust those two halfwits with a chainsaw?

This actually happened to my elderly mother when an ancient (and huge) pecan tree fell in her backyard.

Comment from Poteet over at the Curmudgeon:

“Seriously, this undynamic duo is clueless about the locations and sizes of trees in their own backyard where Walt, at least, has presumably lived for decades?? Also, what kind of monster mutant tree IS that?? It doesn’t look like a normal fallen tree, it looks like an alien in an old DOCTOR WHO episode.”
