Get Fuzzy by Darby Conley for April 14, 2014
Transcript:
Alex: Hey, buddy. This is Alex... Alex from work... hello? What's that screaming? Rob Wilco: I'm playing Battlefront, Allen. Is this important? Alex: Uh...Alex. Ok, anyway, I think the FedEx you got last week accidentally had some unpublished Pearls Before Swines in it. Go ahead and destroy those. Rob Wilco: Whatever, Alec. That it? I got a wookie on my $$@ here. Alex: Ok, Buddy. Oh and hey, you're really late with your strips this week, are you gonna get them in today? Rob Wilco: Yeah, I got some ideas. Gotta go.

And off to the “Pearls Before Swine” rip-off sequence. Too bad Pastis isn’t rerunning the sequence again. Oh, yeah, that’s right, PBS hasn’t done reruns yet.

An 8 year old classic….

Maybe this explains the lack of new weekday strips. Darby got some hot new games, and maybe an Xbox One or PS4, and he can’t pull himself away longer than to knock out one new strip a week.

Hey Buddy…..if you don’t want to be bothered, just don’t answer the phone. Why are so many people slaves to their phones?

A few years ago when my daughter wanted to get texting allowed on her phone we discovered it was cheaper to get the family plan. My older daughter was never interested in texting, so it had never been an issue before. The rule was I would only get it IF she pad for it. After the oldest had access to texting her opinion changed. The bill was split between the 2 of them & I took it directly from their checks. When they had gotten jobs and needed a bank account we opened a saving account at my bank for each of them. I was secondary on the accounts. Anyway, geez even in print I talk forever. The whole thing I was going to say was that I NEVER text. So I’m on the computer and my cell does a weird ring. It shows I have a text from my oldest. I didn’t know it at the time, but she was with her friends and said “watch this, my mom is going to call me & b&tch me out for texting her”. Of course that was EXACTLY what I did. She & her friends got a good laugh.

The rest of this week we will be revisiting the week of April 17 to 22, 2006. Get Fuzzy was presenting a hilarious set of crossover strips that week that matched what was happening in the Pearls Before Swine strips for that week.

The caller’s name is Alex and I guess he’s calling Darby the cartoonist about his column. It’s not Rob.

The real test is if he can do bad puns the way that Pastis does.

Our newspaper just canceled GF in favor of PBS, because GF is" now in reruns". Wish they’d also cancel Peanuts!

Ah, one of my fave Get Fuzzy storylines. Would bet anything that Darby collaborated with Stephan Pastis on this.
