If cats were strictly wild, they would have a roaming territory that would allow each sufficient food. Other cats would have to fight to gain territory; there would be a natural balance. The artificial feeding of cats by humans creates an unnatural concentration of felines in an area causing a much higher death rate of small mammals and birds due to cats. That all being said, I still see plenty of birds out there. Maybe the artificial feeding of birds allows birds to breed at an increased rate. My feeder is crawling with birds throughout the day.
