If Bucky self-identifies as a chic, then changing your name every time the wind shifts is normal. Ask anybody’s ‘Ex’.

Here’s a trivia question about comic strip dog names: Who’s dog was called Bolivar, politically corrected to Bornworthy?

As recently as 2010, “I identify as …” was not a thing. Trying to pull that off made you a imposter. In this case, the good old days are not ancient history.

Man, this strip actually breaks the time barrier, with our asinine personal identity pronouns today.

I had roommate who changed her name because she thought nobody would take a “Patty” seriously. She bugged me incessantly until she settled on a name she liked. She got to use it as the ingenue in one of my radio plays. When she started talking about changing it again – I refused to listen.

What’s in a name? Just a way to remember, I guess … irrelevant sometimes … Mister Tibbs? Mello Yellow (quite rightly)? BuckSteveGarfield? Call me WHATEVER …!

I would call him “Fangor or Fang-gone”. Because of the missing fang.

Really, you can change your name to whatever you want, as often as you want. You can do it legally, so long as your intent isn’t to defraud or conceal.

It’s been 40 years since I’ve used the name my parents gave me for anything other than official records.

Okay, let’s not have, as those across the pond might say, a Tumbleweeds moment.
