How can you tell if someone is a vegan? Don’t worry, they will tell you ….. many times ….

The only thing which bugs me about this subject matter is when someone tells me that: “I’m a vegetarian .. but I still eat XXXX.” (for XXXX fill in Chicken or Fish or Pork or whatever). Apparently, some people’s version of Vegetarian only means that you don’t eat dead cow/bull/steer.

As the effects of obesity claim the lives of more and more Americans compared to vegetarians and vegans, I would think we would hear less and less criticism of vegetarians and vegans, IMHO.

I have to admit that “cornivore” and “fruit smoothie” made me smile.

We rotate hosting dinner get-togethers quarterly with a group of friends,, one of which is a vegetarian. A great guy, but a pain in the a.s.s. when it comes to the menus … one for him, one for all the rest …!

( methinks he’s getting tired of grilled mushrooms )

There was a BBC radio comedy skit in which a woman takes exception to her date’s remark by replying, “I don’t have an eating disorder … I’m a vegetarian.”

Yeah, never could see how they could deny that we evolved as (or were created as, if you go that way) omnivores. Consumers of plant and animal both.

One could just as easily infer that we evolved to eat plants or animals but not that we had to eat both. There is certainly evidence that many ancient societies (and some modern ones) ate primarily (or exclusively) plants based diets either by choice or by adaptation to what was easily available. It it quite possible to obtain all essential amino acids, fats, and sugars from a plant based diet. Past evolution is not a determinant of future behavior, its an on going process.

How many vegans does it take to screw in a lightbulb? None. None of them can pick a lightbulb up.
