Courtesy of Wikipedia: In film and television production, B-roll, B roll, B-reel or B reel is supplemental or alternative footage intercut with the main shot. The term A-roll referring to the main footage has fallen out of usage.

Suddenly I’m hearing the announcer in the Lifebuoy commercials, but he’s intoning “B-roll” instead of “B.O.”

Gee, it’s too bad they just can’t show the footage as is to make their point. Instead they are going to chop it up and edit it and then it can be contested as not an accurate depiction of the event.
