Do we know what other interests “over-devoting” himself to football will cause Chance to miss out on or is he against extra-curricular activities in general? Perhaps he wants to flit from one to another, being a theater nerd one semester, playing tuba in marching band the next, then a run at student body president.
How many “State U’s” have “put a lot of halfbacks (now an archaic term) into the NFL”? Bama? Penn State? THE Ohio State University? Still don’t know where Milford is?
Then don’t ask about the NFL, Idiot! I told you yesterday to look for a school offering a good scholarship with a good program you’re interested in. Did you listen? No.
I say Wake Forest has a shot at Chance. Great academics, better weather than Milford and someone like True to share his experiences there. So who’s next for the Mudlarks in their quest for 2nd in The Valley?
Build up your brand/name. Under the NCAA rule change, college athletes get paid from their social media accounts, broker endorsement deals, autograph signings and other financial opportunities, and use an agent or representatives to do so.
Chance is worried that he would have to spend an enormous amount of effort on something just so that he can have a marginal chance at getting a job in that field, which he won’t like either. Hey Chance, that’s what college is all about, fellow!!!
If R&W had put a fraction of the energy into exploring Chance’s angst/blowtop issues as they have into B.S. like Tevin’s “choking” or Guts’ “hypmotism” this might have been a more interesting plotline.
That’s right, I predict an appointment to the Naval Academy where (based on Milford’s time line) he can be classmates with Mr. Roberts and Ensign Pulver.
Man ,I sure put one over on Gil and that idiot Chance . In all reality , I came to scout Mops shinning halls . We need to sign him and his mop asap, State U’s hallways will shine like never before .
Does MHS have any student-athletes that actually enjoy the sport they play, or do they all have a Corina-Chance attitude about not wanting to talk to schools that are willing to give them a free education for playin’ a kids game? Kianna probably does but she’s more of a jack-of-all-trades-and-master-of-none player that won’t be considered for either sport she does.
From a MAD Magazine parody of old college sports movies: “Wow, look at this schedule – State, Tech, Tech State, State Tech, Tech State Teachers… we play every tough team in the country!”
Man, Chance sure is one boring, depressing dude. Heck, Debbie Downer just called me and suggested that he lighten up. And speaking of suggestions, might I suggest you read today’s Mopped Up Thorp?

Do you put an equal amount of graduates into non-sports related jobs?

Chance just wants to embody today’s well-rounded student athlete.

After a concussion or two, it won’t really matter.

Personally, I would rather a scholarship go to a student showing a high aptitude for science or literature than a football jock.

Over devote yourself to a career you don’t want sounds a lot like Gil. He always wanted to be an airline pilot. Picked a bad day to stop drinking.
