Vap? Who danced his way up the middle? Let’s see. Central kicked off to Milford but a Central player has the ball. That would be a fumble by Milford or an onside kick recovered by Central. The drawings aren’t matching up with the dialog. As usual.
But I’m dancing in the moonlight / It’s caught me in its spotlight / It’s all right, all right / Dancing in the moonlight/ On this long hot summer night
The kick was down the middle. The return was danced up the middle. And I think that was Hugh who returned the kick. This strip seems to be…stuck in the middle with Hugh.
apparently, the receiver fumbled and the green team recovered. I’m guessing the usually red and black Mudlarks had to wear an alternate uniform for this game. Som Brazilian superstition, perhaps???
The radio broadcast of the Milford home game originates from the gymnasium at Central? I’m guessing it’s supposed to be an announcement earlier in the day (?) The kickoff/ recovery issues in P2 and P3 have already been discussed.
My guess for what’s happening here is that the green team needed to make an adjustment to their roster to get under the salary cap before the actual start of the season, so while everyone was getting ready for game to start, the greens traded their star kick returner to the whites for a third-string cornerback, a player to be named later, and a second-round pick in next year’s draft. So in P3 the kick returner in green is actually playing for the whites, and the coverage man in white is actually playing for the greens. The traded players just didn’t have enough time to get their new uniforms between the coin toss and the kickoff.

P1 – Why is the exterior of Central High shown? Do they have an indoor football stadium? But then caption says the game is at MILFORD…

the kicker is wearing green and the player with the ball on the ground is wearing green also , did they kick to themselves??

Obviously, they don’t do their own coloring. That’s sent out to India or China just like the copy editing.

These new state kickoff rules are weirder than the NFL. You kick to yourself?

With a VAP like that, the kicker must be German.

confused, the green team kicked off but the green team also received?

A kickoff that uses a holder (who doesn’t hold), no tee, and that takes place on apparently the 37 yard line. This is VAPid.

So the guys in green kickoff and get the ball? And I thought the new NFL kickoff rules were confusing.

That looks like a “4,” but if so, it’s more like 41. Does the yard line actually say “47”?

The Mularks are in big trouble. Did they fumble the kick-off or have the rules changed. Now you can receive your own kick?
Mopman 3 months ago
I’m surprised that after all this time nobody pointed out the fact that the same team colors that kicked off returned the kick.
And yes, I’m being sarcastic, I’m aware that 42 people have mentioned it so far.

It is hard to take this strip seriously anymore when there are so many obvious errors regarding the actual sports content.

The new kickoff rules allow for the opposing team to tackle the receiver and then stand on his knees and sit on top of him until he gets EEH.
