GRAND AVENUE BY STEVE BREEN & MIKE THOMPSON Grandma: When I was your age, I practically lived outdoors during the summer! Go outside...now! Michael: And do what? Grandma: Play games outdoors! Michael: What kind of games? Grandma: The same games that I used to play: kick the can! Ghost in the graveyard! Freeze tag! Red rover! Michael: I'm not finding any game apps by those names on my smartphone. Gabby: Her memory must be hazy.

I remember playing “Ghost in the Graveyard” when I was young…basically Hide & Seek at night. Am I showing my age be remembering that game?

Aside from the childhood staples of tag and such my best friend and I would play Star Trek. I was McCoy and she was Spock. If the third girl on the block, Penny, joined in she was Kirk. I don’t remember playing Lost in Space, Gunsmoke or other shows, just the Star Trek. Could STar Trek have also encouraged the beginnings of role-playing games??

For some unfathomable reason, “school” had some popularity, and best leave “doctor” undiscussed.
