In my town they host a Halloween in the park on the weekend before the actual holiday so my son was able to trick or treat and decorate a pumpkin – all for free, sponsored by local businesses. We do this every year. Last time he actually went trick or treating in a neighborhood was about 4 years ago. For the actual holiday, I plan to help him decorate some Halloween cookies for dessert and maybe we’ll watch a scary movie. He also has his school dance that afternoon so he’ll be able to show off his costume to his school friends, at least.
I guess I could say that these days, Halloween is celebrated twice!

Ah, the only good thing about growing up Catholic. The next day (Nov.1) was All Saints day and we had the day off from school.

We got St Patricks day off. In Louisiana we got a slew of religious days off.
