One year, the only reason I passed gym was because I could get into my gym suit without spraining or breaking something. What earthly use are the horse, the balance beam, the ropes and the rings? I’ve NEVER used a one in my entire adult life. . .
All the way until high school, once a year they would test to see how many pullups, situps, etc. you could do in a minute. Then the rest of the year would be spent playing silly ball games: kickball, cage ball, dodge ball, softball, basketball, volleyball, pickle ball. Never did we train to improve on calisthenics. They tried it in high school, but by then, we were smart enough to say, “Nope. I’m out”, and leave for the library.
