The principal at my high school was rumoured to be a survivor of the Bataan Death March. It turns out he was not. He was a P-51 ace over Europe. He shot down 11 planes and later flipped a V-1 Buzz Bomb over Surrey. You would not know it if you had met him. BTW, he never piloted an airplane after the war ended. Any airplane.
